Rules & Definitions
Judges decision is
final. Any
unsportsmanlike conduct, profanity or drinking alcoholic beverages
in the arena or show grounds will disqualify any contestant. NO PETS ALLOWED ON
GROUNDS
REFUNDS: No refunds will be made at the show. If
proper notification is made prior to the first day of the show, fees
will be refunded less 10% administrative charges. Returned checks for
insufficient funds will be assessed an additional $25.00.
CLASS
CANELLATION: We reserve the right to cancel or combine any class
having two or less entries.
RULES: USA Equestrian &
AHA: Unless otherwise stated. Definitions of
individual classes available in Office.
PETS: San Patricio County
Fairgrounds does not allow pets on grounds.
ATTIRE: Chaps or
hunt coats not required, boots or riding shoes are required, hard
hats required for Hunter classes. Protective headgear is
recommended for all youth riders, Leadline and Peewee Division. Australian Trotting Race may
be ridden English or Western.
ARENA USE:
Scheduled
use of the arena for warm-up as listed in the class List. Lunging horses will NOT be allowed in the arena for
the safety of all riders. Please use warm-up area for lunging
TWO MINUTE RULE:
Gate will be closed two minutes after the last horse enters the
arena, unless a tack change has been requested, prior to class. Tack
and horse must be at out gate ready for the tack change NOT AT THE
BARN.
WALK-TROT RIDER:
NO CROSS ENTERING OF RIDER INTO ANY CLASS CALLING FOR A
CANTER/LOPE
NO STALLIONS ALLOWED.
WALK-TROT HORSE:
NO CROSS ENTERING, HORSE CANNOT ENTER ANY CLASS CALLING FOR A
CANTER/LOPE (Rider must be 18
years or older)
For horses recently
started under saddle. Cannot have been judged in any class at a
recognized or similar
competition that required a canter or
lope.
FREESTYLE LIBERTY Limited entries (2
years and older). Time
allowed per horse 1.5 minutes and there may be two handlers present.
Time allowed to catch will be 1 minute. No tack of any kind may be
worn in the arena.
Entry must not be touched at any time after the horse is
released by whip, hand or any other item. Whips can be no longer than
6 feet. Music must be
provided by exhibitor, must be clearly marked and queued to starting
point. No cross entering from Arabian/Ha-Arabian
Liberty.
SPORT
HORSE IN-HAND
1. Braiding
is optional.
2. Boots or
bandages of any kind are forbidden during a
class
3. Bridles
are mandatory on horses three years and older. A bridle shall be a
dressage or hunter type with snaffle bit with or without cheeks,
keepers allowed, reins and headstall with throatlatch. Noseband is
optional but if used must be a cavesson flash, figure 8, Mexican,
dropped or crescent style noseband. A split or single chain may be
used with/or instead of reins. Horses age two years may be shown in
a bridle or a plain leather stable halter. Horses under the age of
two years must be shown in plain leather stable halters. (a.) The
handler may carry only one whip, maximum length 6’, including lash
and without attachments, i.e. no plastic bags, ribbons, etc. (b.)
Conservative casual attire is recommended for the handler. Dressage
or hunter attire is also appropriate. Gloves, hat, vest, jacket are
optional.
NOVICE RIDER: Neither
horse or rider have won (3) or more blue ribbons in a like
class.
LEADLINE/PEEWEE
CLASSES
For beginner riders,
3-10 and special needs riders. Someone at least 16 years old must
assist child at halter and leadline classes. No horses led off of
the bit in leadline classes, must use halter or cavesson. NO STALLIONS. Protective headgear
strongly
recommended
AWARDS: Rosettes for first through
sixth place in all classes. Championship and Reserve Champion
Awards. Highpoint
award for JUNIOR & SENIOR divisions.
HIGHPOINT: TEAM
IS ONE HORSE - ONE RIDER.
Must register for highpoint prior to first class
entered.
Age as of January 1, 2010.
Senior 18 & over, Junior 17 & under.
